The Silken Windsprite




1. General appearance

The Silken Windsprite is a medium-sized, athletic greyhound with a medium-length coat.
His appearance conveys elegance, dignity and grace, as well as power and speed. His gait is spacious and light-footed, his topline is flowing and elegant.
His nature is extremely friendly and balanced. He is devoted to "his" human. In a home environment he is well-adjusted and calm. He enjoys exercise.



2. Temperament

His nature is extremely friendly, never aggressive and friendly towards people. In a domestic environment he is calm and well-adjusted. As is typical for a greyhound, he enjoys exercise when running free.


3. Ideal size

Males: 47 cm to 58 cm

Bitches: 45 cm to 55 cm


4. Head

Relatively long, broad at the back of the head, gradually tapering towards the eyes and then tapering evenly over the muzzle to the nose. The head is neither excessively long and narrow, nor excessively short and broad.

Viewed from the side, the upper edge of the muzzle runs parallel to the plane of the flat skull, which has a gentle stop.
The nose should be black, or as dark as possible in light-colored dogs.
The muzzle should be strong but not coarse and in good harmony with the skull. Only a scissor bite is permitted.

5. Eyes

The eyes are large, lovely, round and intense. The eyes must be the same color and as dark as possible, but in keeping with the coat color. In color-diluted dogs, as dark as possible.

The eyes are large and round to oval. Eyelid rims should be as dark as possible, in keeping with the coat color. Fully pigmented eye rims are desirable.

When at rest, the Silken Windsprite has a sweet, gentle, almost humble look, but when alert, he has a sharp, intense expression.


6. Ears

Rose ears are the only correct ears and are highly desirable. The rose ear should lie close to the head, but may be half erect in the first third when alert or excited. When at rest, the ear is folded back at the side with the pinna visible.



7. Teeth


Correct and complete scissor bite.



8. Neck

Long, elegantly curved and muscular.

9. Shoulders

The shoulder blades should be well muscled, long and as sloping as possible. The elbows should neither be turned out nor in when viewed from the front.


10. Forelegs

Straight and strong, with good bone to the feet. Pasterns strong but flexible. They have a very slight but not too noticeable bend.


11. Breast

Very deep, preferably to the point of the elbow. Ribs well sprung, but not barrel-shaped.



12. Back and lumbar

The back is broad, well-muscled and long.

A tucked up loin is very desirable. There is an arch over the muscular loin, but the topline is not humped or wheel-shaped. A flat back with a steep croup is very undesirable.

13. Hindquarters

Muscular, long and well angulated. Strong, broad and well muscled thighs, good deep hocks showing a long, powerful, broad hindquarter with great driving power.



14. Paws

Strong, well-ankleed with thick pads. Rabbit feet and cat feet are permitted. Flat feet are undesirable.


15. Rod

A long tail should reach at least to the hock and preferably longer. The tail tapers upwards with a slight curve. Open to the end to create a bow. When the dog moves, the tail should be carried low in a graceful bow. The front ¾ of the tail should never be carried above the topline. Short, curled or high set tails are undesirable.



16. Fur

The hair should be soft and smooth or slightly wavy. The undercoat should be just enough to provide warmth and protection, but not to make the coat fluffy. The hair should be longer on the neck. The front legs, chest, hindquarters and tail should have long enough feathers to emphasize the dog's beautiful, flowing shape.

17. Color

Any color, markings or combination thereof is allowed.


18. Gait

The gait should be light-footed, swinging, elegant and graceful, but at the same time powerful and with forward thrust. Excessive up and down movements of the legs or sideways movements when swinging back are not desired.

Dogs with physical abnormalities and/or behavioral disorders, as well as aggressive and very fearful dogs are excluded from breeding.



Males must have two normally developed testicles in the scrotum.
